This harness is part of the Willans Club/Silverstone range using rotary buckles - the version with steel adjusters is known as the Club, with aluminium adjusters it is known as the Silverstone.
Willans MX-5 4-point Road and FIA Harness: FIA approved to FIA 8854-98 for Road and Competition Use. 4-point MX-5 specific harness suitable and approved for Road and Track use. These MX-5 harnesses have shorter shoulder straps designed to wrap around a roll bar or harness bar, they are ideal for use in your MX-5 if used on the road or for track days.
As standard they feature shoulder straps manufactured to the correct length ready to wrap around your roll bar or harness bar, the lap strap adjusters are reversed to provide tensioning of the lap strap by pulling downwards away from the central buckle. Lap straps have bolt in fixings and fix to the original seatbelt mounting points in the car. They bolt into the car using the original 7/16 inch bolts.
A harness bar manufactured specifically for the MX-5 can be supplied if required. Please use dropdowns to order.
Patented lightweight composite Rotary Buckle finished in satin black with a black Willans badge as standard; the badge (not the buckle) can be upgraded to Signature Red or Blue.
Please note that the Willans light weight (176 gram) quick release buckle is fixed to the left-hand lap strap on the drivers’ side (UK RHD vehicles) and the right-hand lap strap on the passengers’ side (UK RHD vehicles) With this configuration when the buckle is released it goes towards the centre of the car rather than the door. If you are ordering two harnesses, we will always supply one harness with a buckle attached to the left-hand lap strap and one harness with a buckle attached to the right-hand lap strap. If you are ordering a single harness, please confirm whether it is for the driver or passenger side (using the dropdown menu above) and we will supply a harness with the rotary buckle fixed to the appropriate side.
Steel adjusters to shoulder and lap straps can be upgraded to Willans Aluminium Adjusters if required. Shoulder Straps are all 3 inch (75mm) wide. Lap straps are 2 inch (50mm). Signature range includes additional colours and the option of the Historic Willans Label if required. Stitching thread is self-colour (same as harness colour) unless upgraded to a Signature colour using the dropdowns on the page. Shoulder pads are available in Black, Blue or Red only with Modern or Historic Labels. All straps are fully adjustable. Superb Willans quality throughout. Manufactured in the UK. - Fully FIA Approved for Track and Road use. FIA approval is for 5 years from the end of the year purchased. For example, if purchased on 1st Feb they would be approved for 11 months of the current year plus a further 5 years.

- Road Use Approval: Reference: Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) inspection Manual; Passenger vehicles (M1) dated May 2023. Page 228 clearly states: Note 1: A British Standard Part 1 1988 or evidence of FIA approval for a harness belt is acceptable.

- Shoulder Straps wrap around roll bar or harness bar (harness bar available as an option, see below)
- Shoulder Straps are approximately 122cm from the adjuster to the end of the strap
- Shoulder Straps are manufactured for the MX-5 to exactly the correct length to wrap around the harness bar or roll bar without excess webbing
- Lap Straps have ‘Pull-Down’ adjustment specifically for the MX-5
- Lap Straps have bolt in fixings. Bolts are not supplied. The lap straps bolt into the original mounting points on the sill and on the seat runners. The anchor plates use the original equipment 7/16" UNF bolts. They have a 15mm hole and are supplied with a top hat spacer that reduces the hole size to the correct diameter for the 7/16" bolts and allows the anchor plates to rotate slightly when in position. If you have replaced or are thinking of replacing the seats with Cobra Monaco (narrow version MX-5 seats) this is still the case. If you have seats fitted with sidemounts a new fixing point will be required to the centre of the car, on the tunnel. Please select the Harness Stress Plates from the dropdown to facilitate this requirement. All FIA seats will require this type of fixing.

Harness Bar (NA/NB Only)
MX-5 Harness Bar: The only way to securely, safely, and easily fit harnesses to an MX-5. In fact, this MX-5 specific harness is only designed to be used with a harness bar or a roll bar. The harness bar attaches to the seatbelt towers and has the added benefit of acting as a brace giving increased rigidity. It fits both right and left-hand drive Mk1 and 2 MX-5 models.
Please note that only one harness bar is needed per vehicle. If ordering a pair of harnesses, add one to the basket with a harness bar and one without.

Shoulder Straps
- Shoulder straps are approximately 122cm from the adjuster to the end of the strap
- The adjustment range of the lower shoulder strap is between 10cm and 40cm
- The fixings supplied with the harness at the end of the shoulder straps are not sewn on, and can easily be removed when you wrap the shoulder straps around your harness bar or roll bar
- When the webbing has been wrapped around a bar, this will leave a maximum length of approximately 70cm from the adjuster to the bar
