All DS Performance pads go through a 'scorching' process. Scorching consists of burning the surface of the pad; this significantly reduces the bedding-in time when pads are fitted. Ferodo DS Performance brake pads also have a thermal under-layer applied to them between the backplate and the friction material. This ensures the perfect pad/plate bind, and works as a thermal barrier preventing heat transfer through the caliper to the brake fluid.
