Zunsport Grilles
6th March 2019 | By Patrick CrowZunsport are a family business, that have been proudly manufacturing vehicle grilles in the West Midlands for three generations! The secret to their longevity and the popularity of their products is quite simple; they offer a high quality product that is straightforward to fit and does exactly what it is intended to do.
There are not many products available for cars that offer style and practicality in equal measure, but Zunsport Grilles are an exception to this. Not only do their stainless steel replacement car and van grilles look fantastic, they also serve a very important purpose: Your car is under constant attack from the road! Small stones and general debris will be thrown at the the front of your car during every journey. Most of the time this is harmless, but dependent of the size of the debris and size of the grille apertures on your car, the consequences can be serious. Significant damage can be caused to your car's radiator; often this is not easily repaired and not covered under warranty.
I can't count the number of times we have spoken to customers that are buying a Zunsport Grille, having already paid a hefty bill for repairs to their car. It becomes even more significant when the car is a performance vehicle such as a Ford Focus RS, or any number of Porsches, where the likelihood of causing damage is increased because the grille holes are very large, and the cost of repairs is often a lot higher.
All Zunsport Grilles are made from high quality 316L stainless steel, and they are all available in a choice of silver or black. The silver grilles are "electro-polished" for a really bright finish that will last. The black grilles are black polymer coated - the advantage of this is that should the grille take a hit from a stone, the black polymer coating will shrink back towards the impact, ensuring that your black grille remains black. Both finishes are popular - it really comes down to your personal preference, and often what colour your car is. The Zunsport Grille sets we offer are typically for the front of the car, but we do offer some sets that also include grilles for the side and rear where applicable, allowing you to have consistent styling from the front to the back of the vehicle.
An awful lot of time and energy goes into the design and development of each and every replacement grille. Donor vehicles are sourced and extensive research is carried out to ensure the suitability of a Zunsport mesh grille for a particular vehicle. Some cars and vans are simply not suitable, but most are, and the technicians at Zunsport do a lot of work to guarantee that the grille they produce looks great, fits properly and is easy to install. Zunsport's commitment to producing grilles of the highest quality is underlined by their offer of a guarantee for the lifetime of the vehicle it is fitted to.
The time it takes to fit a Zunsport Grille varies from one application to another, but they are always designed so that they can be fitted at home with basic tools, by a competent enthusiast. If you don't feel confident fitting the grille yourself, this is not a problem - please contact one of our Approved Fitting Centres and they will be happy to help.
Most Zunsport Grilles are fitted in front of the existing, original equipment grille. Often self tapping screws are provided to be used at specific points to secure your Zunsport Grille to the original plastic grille. Some of the grilles in the range replace the original grille completely - it simply depends upon how it has been designed by Zunsport to achieve a secure fitment and optimum ease-of-installation. Full fitting instructions are provided with each grille set - they are also available to download from the product pages on our website (check the Product Description section for details). The fittings required for installation, including clips and screws where necessary, are all included with your grille kit.
If you are fitting your Zunsport Grille yourself we would simply recommend that you give yourself a bit of time:
- Wait until your car has been stationary for at least half an hour, so that the engine has had chance to cool down
- Use masking tape to thoroughly protect the bodywork around the grille area before you start
- Follow the instructions carefully
